Science Week Ireland 2024 is just around the corner, taking place from the 10th to the 17th of November. This year’s theme is “Regeneration”—a theme that calls on us to embrace curiosity, creativity, and the pursuit of new solutions to challenges both old and new. Junior Einsteins Science Club is thrilled to join this national celebration, bringing the wonders of STEM to life for children across Ireland with exciting hands-on experiments and interactive workshops. What is Science Week?
Science Week is a nationwide event that aims to ignite passion for science among people of all ages across Ireland. It’s a week where communities, schools, and organizations unite to highlight the importance of science in our daily lives. This year’s focus on regeneration encourages us to explore how science can solve problems, drive change, and inspire future discoveries—from renewable energy and environmental protection to advanced healthcare and space exploration.
Science Week Events at Junior Einsteins Science Club
At Junior Einsteins Science Club, we’ve crafted a special lineup for Science Week 2024, where young scientists can dive into the theme of innovation through thrilling experiments and science shows. Here’s a peek at what we have planned:
School Science Shows
Our School Science Shows are very interactive and children get to make slime and give a Barbie doll a hair raising experience !
We bring our AMAZING science experiments to your school. Our School Science Shows STEM Workshops & School Tours are ideal for science week celebrations. Children are enthralled by two types of SLIME, Give a Barbie doll a hair raising experience on a Van Der Graaf generator. Lighting lightsabers with a plasma ball! Shoot giant smoke rings at each other with fabulous Smoke Cannons. Watch the bubbling, foaming Elephant Toothpaste reaction.
Simple, but mesmerising Walking Water, hand boilers & energy sticks. STEM & STEAM fun !
Science STEM Workshops ;
Illusions Workshop ;How the eye tricks the brain, how cartoons are made. Children learn about the cells and anatomy of the eye, the photogene,after-image. They make thaumatropes and see how Zoetropes work ! Very hands-on and interactive
Slime making Workshop: Children make and take home slimey slime ! They learn about long-chain polymerisation and Non-Newtonian fluids. They get to punch slime.
Forensic Crime scene Workshop : ( not too scary for younger groups!) We set up a crime scene and children play detective to find our who the culprit is. Fingerprinting, black lights, moulding and shoe rubbings are great fun in this very hands on session.
Electricity workshop : We bring our amazing Van Der Graaf generators and give a Barbie doll a ‘hair -raising ‘ experience. Can you touch 250,000 volts? We explain the difference between voltage and current. Our plasma ball lights up with a light sabre and children learn about static electricity.
