What Makes a Great Franchisee: 8 Traits We Look For
When people enquire about joining Junior Einsteins Science Club® as a franchisee, the most common questions are:
“Do I need a background in science?”
“Do I need business experience?” The truth? Neither guarantees success. What really matters is mindset, consistency, and action. What Makes a Great Franchisee: 8 Traits We Look For
After years of building and supporting our franchise network, we’ve learned exactly what separates the top performers from the ones who struggle.
Here are the eight traits we consistently see in successful franchisees:
1. Grit Over Experience
We’re not focused on perfect backgrounds or polished CVs. We look for people who keep moving forward—who stay focused, keep showing up, and look for solutions when things shift. The franchisees who thrive are the ones who bring energy, consistency, and determination, no matter what’s happening around them.
2. Action-Takers Pick Up the Phone
Successful franchisees don’t sit back and hope enquiries come in. They make sales calls, follow up, build relationships, and pitch. They don’t rely on social media posting alone—they engage in their communities online and in person and take ownership of filling events.
3. Open to Coaching (But Not Needy)
We offer guidance, resources, and ongoing training. The best franchisees take that support seriously—but they don’t lean on us for every decision. They use the tools, apply the advice, and take responsibility for their results.
4. System-Followers Who Still Think
Our systems are strong. They’ve been tested and refined over years. Top franchisees follow them—but they also adapt when needed. They think on their feet, solve problems locally, and use common sense.
5. Relentlessly Resourceful
Unexpected changes happen—brilliant staff move on, a school goes under construction, or a venue becomes unavailable for a few weeks. Great franchisees don’t panic—they adapt. They get creative, test new ideas, and take proactive steps to keep momentum going. They don’t wait for the perfect conditions—they make progress anyway.
6. Consistent, Not Sporadic
Talent is great. But consistency wins every time. The franchisees who do well are the ones who show up week after week. They don’t disappear for two months and then try to catch up. They build momentum and keep it.
7. Positively Persistent
Not every opportunity clicks straight away. Some schools take time to decide. Some venues need to see the magic firsthand. The franchisees who do well are the ones who stay consistent, professional, and visible. They build trust over time—and more often than not, those early maybes turn into long-term partnerships.
8. Willing to Do the Uncomfortable Things
Cold calls, TikTok videos, networking, chasing leads—none of it feels natural at the start. But we provide scripts, support, training, and encouragement. The franchisees who lean into these things grow faster and build real confidence along the way.
Franchising is not passive. It’s not a shortcut. It’s a business.
Our model works—but only when franchisees do.
If you see yourself in these eight traits, we’d love to talk to you. If you don’t (yet), the good news is: all of these can be learned.
We don’t look for perfect. We look for committed.
Let’s grow something meaningful—together.
